The rules, in full

Not a summary and not a highlight reel. Every rule this community enforces, with the definition it is enforced on and the examples that draw the line.

How we roleplay

The standard every scene is held to, and the three things that break one fastest.

01

Immersion Breaks & Low-Effort Roleplay

Any action that disrupts the immersion of the roleplay. Your character should respond in ways that feel believable and help build their story.

This is not

  • Walking away uninjured from a car wreck or gunshot wound.
  • Ignoring /me actions directed at you.
  • Giving one-line responses or rushing through a scene without development.

02

Character Knowledge Only

Your character may only act on information they personally see, hear, or are told in-character. If your character did not directly experience or learn it in character, you cannot use it.

This is not

  • Hearing about an event outside of roleplay and acting on it in-character.
  • Being told something in a private message or outside source and using it in character.

03

Forced Outcomes

Forcing a player into a situation where they have no way to influence the outcome of the scenario they are put in. Roleplay must always be adaptable and influenced by both parties involved.

This is not

  • Mugging someone, taking their money, and killing them regardless of their response.
  • Writing /me actions that automatically succeed without giving the other player a chance to react.
  • Creating "no-win" scenarios where every option ends the same way for the other player.

04

Value Your Character's Life

Your character must fear harm or death and act to preserve life in all situations, unless the roleplay specifically involves the opposite. Standard: if lethal risk is clear, value survival over pride.

This is fine

  • Complying when a gun is pointed at you instead of charging in to punch.
  • Roleplaying fear and hesitation when faced with overwhelming force.

12

Staying In Character

Roleplay must remain in-character at all times. Out-of-character communication belongs in /ooc (local), /gooc (global), or Discord when necessary — keep OOC brief and issue-focused.

This is fine

  • Using /ooc to clarify "my game lagged" or similar issues.

This is not

  • Saying "my game lagged" while in-character.

13

Random Attacks

Injuring or killing another player without meaningful roleplay or context is not allowed. Violence must be supported by story, character motivation, or escalation.

This is fine

  • A robbery that escalates into violence when the victim resists.
  • Attacking someone because your character has a reason to lash out.

This is not

  • A gang member randomly shooting civilians with no story or reason.

26

Name & Character Standards

All characters must use realistic names and personas that fit the roleplay environment. Names and character traits that are immersion-breaking, offensive, or based on real-world celebrities are not allowed.

This is fine

  • A believable first and last name — "John Martinez", "Maria Clarke".

This is not

  • Meme or joke names — "Big Chungus", "420 Boi", "TonyStark".
  • Names of real-life politicians, celebrities, streamers or public figures.

Backstories should ground your character in San Andreas — why they moved here, their job history, what motivates them. If you need help building one, staff and community members can assist.

Escalation and weapons

Firearms are a last resort, and a scene that goes loud has to have earned it.

18

Scene Priority & Weapons

High-priority scenes (major shootouts, robberies, violent crimes) should be rare and must be driven by story. Roleplay should not constantly escalate into violence. Firearms are last-resort tools and require strong justification.

This is fine

  • Planning and executing a major robbery with buildup and story.
  • Using a firearm in self-defence as a last resort when escape or de-escalation is not possible.

This is not

  • Pulling a gun in every small argument.
Cooldowns
Staff may apply cooldowns between major incidents. These may apply per group if the same players repeatedly trigger high-priority scenes.
Alts
Using alternate characters to bypass cooldowns is not allowed.

20

Hostages & Large Scenarios

Hostage situations and other large-scale roleplay must remain fair, balanced, and realistic. They cannot drag on indefinitely or demand absurd, immersion-breaking conditions.

This is fine

  • Taking hostages during a robbery and negotiating with police.
  • Demanding realistic things such as money, transport, or safe passage.

This is not

  • Holding someone indefinitely with no plan for release.
  • Demanding ridiculous things — "a sweater from this shop", "burgers for everyone".
  • Using hostages to escalate every minor crime.
30-minute limit
Hostages may not be held longer than 30 minutes without active negotiation or clear scene progress. If negotiations stall, staff may intervene to force resolution.

15

Cop Baiting

Intentionally provoking police for no purpose other than forcing a chase or arrest is prohibited. Police interactions must come from genuine roleplay, not staged harassment.

This is fine

  • Running from a lawful stop as part of a planned crime.
  • Driving back and forth waiting to be pulled over so you can roleplay the traffic stop.

This is not

  • Circling a police station revving your engine until officers chase you.

14

Vehicle Use

Vehicles must be used in ways that make sense for their type and setting. Driving should be realistic and appropriate for the vehicle.

This is fine

  • Using a truck on dirt roads or off-road terrain.
  • Driving dirt bikes, ATVs or off-road vehicles off-road.

This is not

  • Driving a sports car off-road in the mountains.
  • Performing repeated stunt jumps downtown.

Consequences and continuity

What happens after the scene ends. These are the rules that make a death mean something.

06

Death and Respawn

If your character reaches life-threatening conditions (downed, hospitalized, or treated as clinically dead until revived), you may not respawn and claim to be fine. You must remain until police, EMS, or others complete their involvement.

Hospitalisation
After a death or life-threatening hospitalisation, that character may not return for at least 12 hours.
Prison
After serving time for a felony conviction, that character may not return for at least 24 hours.
Exemptions
Staff may grant exemptions for a compelling reason. Judges may release a character early on bond, allowing return sooner.

Switching to another character during the cooldown is allowed and encouraged.

07

Permanent Death

You cannot permanently kill your character in the middle of an active scene. Permadeath is only your choice, and only after the scene is concluded. No one else can force your character into a permanent death.

This is not

  • Deciding your character dies forever while being arrested.
  • Another player telling you "your character is dead for good".

08

Logging Out to Avoid Roleplay

Quitting or disconnecting during roleplay to avoid consequences is prohibited. Once involved in a scene, you must remain until it concludes. If you crash, lose connection, or must leave unexpectedly, you must notify the players involved or a supervisor.

This is fine

  • Crashing and informing the other party or a supervisor that you cannot return.

This is not

  • Rage quitting during an arrest.
  • Logging off mid-robbery to avoid jail.
  • Leaving the server without telling anyone during an active pursuit.
15 minutes
If you disconnect, you have 15 minutes to return or notify the other party or a supervisor.

19

Emergency Services & Corruption

Emergency services must perform their core duties, but corruption is allowed if roleplayed properly. Corruption carries in-character risks and serious consequences if discovered.

This is fine

  • Filing false reports, accepting bribes, or covering up crimes.
  • Accepting a bribe to release someone — but expect to be fired and prosecuted if discovered.

This is not

  • EMS refusing to treat or intentionally harming downed players.

If Internal Affairs or staff investigations prove corruption, your character will be terminated from their position and permanently barred from serving as LEO, EMS or other government roles. Corruption cannot be used to endlessly avoid accountability.

Server integrity

Things that break fairness rather than immersion.

16

Safe Zones & Zone Rules

Certain areas are considered safe zones where violence, robberies, or hostile roleplay are not permitted. These areas exist to protect essential services and provide neutral spaces.

This is fine

  • Entering a police station to file a report or check records.

This is not

  • Shooting, robbing, or attacking inside these locations.
Safe zones
Police departments · Hospitals · Job centres · Military bases
Scope
Protection applies to building interiors and posted service areas. Parking lots and public streets adjacent are NOT safe zones unless staff mark them as such.

09

Impersonation of Officials

Players may impersonate police, EMS, or government officials only when using base-game clothing and items. Custom department uniforms, EUP models, or restricted gear may not be used for impersonation.

This is fine

  • Dressing in vanilla cop clothing and pretending to be an officer during a scam.

This is not

  • Wearing actual police EUP gear and trying to pass as a real officer.
  • Using custom EMS uniforms to impersonate medics.

10

Theft of Emergency Vehicles

Police, EMS, mechanic, and military vehicles are tracked and secured. Stealing them is generally pointless and unrealistic because they cannot be sold, hidden, or kept. Any theft will result in your character being arrested once the vehicle is located.

This is fine

  • Carjacking civilians with proper roleplay — demanding keys at gunpoint.

This is not

  • Jumping into a running police cruiser and driving away.
  • Storing a stolen emergency vehicle in any garage.

Holding up an officer and stealing their keys requires prior staff approval.

11

Map and Gameplay Modifications

Any modification that changes the in-game map, adds elements, or alters visibility beyond standard graphics is not allowed. All gameplay and map information must remain server-sided to ensure fairness.

This is fine

  • Adjusting visual graphics — brightness, shaders — for personal preference.

This is not

  • Installing a mod that reveals hidden locations or spawns.
  • Adding custom map markers other players cannot see.

21

Alternate Characters & Economy

Players are encouraged to create multiple characters and personas. Each character must remain separate, with no transfer of money, items, or knowledge between them. Exploiting the economy in any form is prohibited.

This is not

  • Using friends or alts as proxies to move money or items between your characters.
Scenario funds
Players may request staff approval for funds to support a scenario if justified with strong backstory and realism. Requests must tie into roleplay, not serve as a shortcut to wealth.

Money requests must be articulable and realistic. If it does not create or support meaningful roleplay, it will be denied.

The community

How staff handle things, and what is expected of you between sessions.

24

Rule Enforcement & Appeals

Staff may step in to clarify, enforce, or resolve issues. A scene will only be stopped mid-roleplay if a player is blatantly breaking a clear rule. Otherwise, staff will allow the scene to play out and handle concerns afterward.

Appeals
Disciplinary actions, warnings and suspensions may be appealed through the designated system. Appeals must be respectful and provide context or evidence.
Bans
Bans are permanent and cannot be appealed. They are only issued after repeated rule-breaking, extreme violations, or hate speech. Staff do not ban lightly — you will always have had opportunities to correct behaviour first.
Contact
Use tickets or designated channels. Do not DM staff directly unless directed to. Disputes should never be argued in public channels.

17

Inactivity

Extended inactivity without notice may result in removal from the community roster. Players are expected to communicate if they plan to be absent.

Day 30
Staff will attempt to contact you.
Day 45
If there is no response, you will be removed for inactivity. Removal means you must reapply to rejoin.

Notifying staff in advance of a break is always allowed and carries no penalty.

25

Living Document

This ruleset is a living document. Rules may be added, edited, revised, or removed at any time. When changes occur, the admin team will announce what was changed and why.

Just like laws in real life, some rules exist because new situations tested the boundaries. Rule updates are never personal — they are about keeping roleplay fair, immersive and consistent for everyone.

Creative freedom in roleplay

Any scenario carried out by a member of the community that can be articulated, explained, and justified within the roleplay context is generally acceptable. We do not want to restrict creativity or limit players unfairly.

If you can acknowledge, explain, and roleplay why your character acted as they did, then almost any scene is possible.
