Long distances at speed, mostly alone. You cover ground nobody else can reach quickly, and the calls that find you are the ones that could not wait.

- Collision blocking an interstate lane

- A routine stop that decides to run
Training
Traffic law, pursuit policy and field sobriety testing. You are expected to know why you stopped someone before you stop them.
Best suited for
People who like the craft of a clean stop and do not need constant action to enjoy a shift.

Statewide. Primary on collisions, DUI, aggressive driving, pursuits and CVE; supports local agencies on request.

A stop that becomes a pursuit
It starts as a failure to yield and ends four miles later with a driver who will not take a breath test. What happens next depends on whether you can articulate probable cause to a judge at midnight.

The San Andreas State Patrol makes a difference every day, enhancing the safety and security of all people and communities by providing the best in public safety services.
A statewide agency enforcing traffic laws, investigating collisions, managing pursuits and supporting local agencies. SASP holds statewide authority to patrol and self-initiate anywhere in San Andreas, with primary jurisdiction over traffic collisions, DUI enforcement, aggressive driving, vehicle pursuits and commercial vehicle enforcement. Its Special Operations Division oversees every specialist unit below.

County roads and long gaps. Backup is ten minutes away on a good night, so you handle what you find in front of you.

- Livestock loose on the highway

Training
Patrol tactics, evidence handling, and the county itself. Knowing the map is half the job and the half nobody teaches you.
Best suited for
People who want to work independently and build something across a whole shift rather than call to call.
Jurisdiction
North of Los Santos, including Roxwood County. Domestics, civil infractions, mediation, property crime, rural gangs and narcotics, civil process and jail operations.

Suspicious vehicle, county road
A truck parked where no truck should be, an hour before dawn. Nothing about it is illegal yet. Whether it becomes a scene depends entirely on how you approach it.

County-wide jurisdiction north of Los Santos, including Roxwood County. The work is rural and small-town policing: property crimes, domestics, traffic, civil processes and county jail operations. BCSO retains priority for in-county gang and violent crime investigations, and may request SASP or LSPD support.

De-escalation, report writing and city geography. You will write more than you drive.
Best suited for
People who want volume and variety, and who can handle being watched while they work.
Jurisdiction
Within Los Santos city limits; authority ends north of Vinewood Hills. City-based investigations remain LSPD-led.

Disturbance, downtown
Two people arguing on a busy street and a crowd already forming. Nobody has committed an offence yet. The whole call is about whether it stays that way.

The municipal agency for the City of Los Santos. The focus is violent crime, robbery response, gang and narcotics enforcement, high-density traffic and community-oriented policing. LSPD may request SASP support for collisions and DUIs and for SOD tactics, and it also assists in Roxwood County, which has no police department of its own.

Training
Wildlife law, boat handling, and seasons and limits known cold. Title 77 is a real body of law and wardens are expected to use it properly.
Best suited for
Patient players who prefer investigation and solitude to radio traffic.
Jurisdiction
Non-paved environments, parks, forests, lakes and rivers; licence enforcement and off-road patrols. Fully sworn — may act anywhere upon witnessing a violation.

Spotlighting after dark
A light sweeping a treeline from a stationary truck. You have watched for ten minutes before anyone knows you are there. Everything depends on what you can actually say you saw.

Conservation enforcement across natural areas, parks, waterways and off-road trails, enforcing hunting and fishing law, licensing and environmental statutes. Wardens are fully sworn officers who may act anywhere in the state upon witnessing a violation, and support other agencies during pursuits, collisions and urban incidents when available.

Mostly medical, occasionally everything at once. You arrive after the worst of it has already happened, and the job is what you do next.

Training
Patient assessment, scene safety and your own apparatus. You will be expected to know what is on your engine and where.
Best suited for
People who would rather be useful than authoritative, and who do not need to be the one giving orders.

Two vehicles, one occupant trapped
Law enforcement has the scene and the traffic. You have a patient, a door that will not open, and a clock. Nobody on that road cares what your rank is.

To answer every call with the same standard, whether it is a working fire or a patient who is frightened and alone.
SAFR covers fire and emergency medical response across the county and the city. Most of the job is medical — the calls that never make the highlight reel and matter most to the person who made them. The rest runs from a working structure fire to a vehicle extrication on a county road to a brush fire in the hills that takes all afternoon.

What your shift feels like
You see the whole board. Everyone else sees only their own window, and they are relying on you to see it for them.
Calls you will actually run
- A 911 from someone who cannot say where they are
- A plate run mid-stop with an officer waiting
- A pursuit crossing into another agency
- A unit that has stopped answering
Training
Radio discipline, CAD and the codes. The curve is steep and short — useful within a week, indispensable within a month.
Best suited for
People who stay organised while everyone around them is busy, and who do not need to be on scene to feel involved.

Priority traffic, multiple units
Three units committed, one asking for a plate, another asking for backup, and a caller still on the line. You decide what order the channel happens in.

To take the call, get the right units moving, and keep everyone on the channel alive to the situation until it is over.
Dispatch is the hardest role in the community to do well and the easiest to underestimate. A dispatcher runs the channel, tracks every unit on duty, takes the caller who is panicking, and keeps a scene organised for people who cannot see it. Radio traffic follows the SOP standard: plain speech, call sign first, and police phonetics rather than NATO.

- A deliberately poor decision, played honestly
Training
None formally. The skill is restraint — knowing when a scene should stay small.
Best suited for
Storytellers. It is the hardest role on the server and the one that makes everyone else’s night worth playing.

The stop that did not have to go that way
You are pulled over for a tail light. How the next four minutes go is mostly your choice, and the version where you are difficult is not the interesting one.

To provide our community with excellent scenarios that are unique, realistic and enjoyable for all that are involved. We strive for the best storytelling experience, this way the entire community can fully benefit from our department.
Being a civilian is the most challenging job in this community. It can be difficult to think of scenarios that would work for your character while creating realistic scenarios. This is the smallest department on State of Mind Roleplay and we wish to capitalize on it more to encourage others to join it and test their storytelling abilities.
